The Project
The Superfast Berkshire project, supported by all six Berkshire unitary authorities (Councils) and the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), aims to improve broadband speeds and coverage across Berkshire in those areas not covered by commercial broadband rollout. The project is backed by £2.86million of public funding and is expected to attract further investment from broadband suppliers to benefit up to 47,000 premises across the county. The aims and objectives of the project are set out in

Timescales and progress
Following completion of our State aid public consultation and contractual discussions with suppliers, Superfast Berkshire issued an Invitation to Tender (ITT) on 22nd April 2013. The project remains firmly on track to award a contract by the end of July 2013 and meet the national objective of delivering superfast broadband to 90% of premises by 2015. An outline of
28-week process [101kb] provides a more detailed view of activity and progress.
